How do you know if you’re ready for a coach?
As a valuable part of your journey, the coaching experience can improve all areas of your life, including career, coping and relationships. It is a partnership of communication and accountability, a collaborative process of gaining awareness, moving toward, setting and achieving goals.
Are you ready?
First off, coaching is different from therapy. Therapy can help you do the specific, heavy lifting around the issues of your past, your childhood and trauma. If you have suffered emotional hardship, you process the past and gain insight from it as you continue to work on these issues.
Coaching is forward-looking. As a person who is self-aware about their goals but has become stuck in that process, you are seeking to move forward with those challenges. You look toward the future and want to change your life for the better with the goals you set.
Second, you are ready to be in a space to hear, listen and engage within a coaching relationship. You’re willing to commit to a straightforward, focused relationship with a coach who can help you grow, clarify and envision your future aligned with your goal. You are open to a fresh perspective.
And, finally, you find a coach who is right for you! One source for finding a qualified, accredited coach- whether for business, relationships, spiritual, or other personal concerns– is the International Coaching Federation website at https://coachfederation.org. Also, be sure to do the research related to each coach you are interested in– their website, social media, classes, etc. And ask questions, as with any professional service, about their approach, policies, training, and experience. Enquire about the possibility of a free consultation, session or mini-session, if they offer it, to determine if they would be a good fit for you.
Coaches partner with you by offering a fresh approach, supportive techniques and passionate questions so you can improve your life and achieve purposeful goals.
